"Let's Have a National Conversation..." We Have Been.

As we approach on August 28th the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King's “I Have a Dream” speech, the subject of race relations is on Americans' minds. Our Attorney General, Eric Holder, has talked about "having a national conversation" about race.  Really.

I don't think the Left really wants to have a conversation about race at all. They certainly don't want to listen to the facts about the crime rate among young black males, as evidenced by this Salon article.

No, the political types and the media want to demagogue the issue, as do Jackson, Sharpton, Lewis, and the rest of the racial-industrial complex. The ideals of Dr. King, ideals that would lead the nation to not judge black children "by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character" are the last things on the mind of these leaders of the racial grievance industry.

"Really, Backwoods?"

Yes, Otherwise, these racial demagogues would speak the truth about the black thugs who beat to death an eighty-eight-year-old, WWII vet in Spokane, Washington.  They would say, "Yes, those boys were black.  And ain't it a shame how they grew up, and what they learned on the streets and from rap music?  I remember when black boys acted up, and their Daddy took them out behind the woodshed, and taught them some manners.  Maybe if they had a positive male role model, maybe they would have left that old vet alone."

And they would speak the truth about the black thugs who gunned down an innocent, twenty-two-year-old, white, Aussie student in Oklahoma.  They would say, "Yes, those boys were black.  George Washington Carver and Dr. King would have been ashamed.  What would the Deacons of Defense and Justice think of them boys, killin' that boy who was doing nothing to them?  What has happened to the black youth?   We blacks need to get our house in order."

You'd say, "You're dreamin', Backwoods."  And you'd be right.

Instead of speaking the truth,  racial demagogues would rather blame their problems on whites, and on the 'poverty' of blacks (which largely has gotten worse with government dependency).  These demagogues would rather hide the crimes of soulless young black thugs, whose morals are virtually nonexistent thanks to the destruction of the black family, which has been replaced by dependence on government.  These demagogues do exactly what they did on the Trayvon Martin case: LIE to stoke the fires of racial grievance.

And stoking the fires they are: revenge killings in the name of Trayvon Martin are way up.

Despite these demagogues, there is still a national conversation going on. It concerns teenage thugs like those mentioned above, and Trayvon Martin, who tried to beat a neighborhood watchman's brains out because the thug's drug-drenched wanderings were observed by the... wait for it... watchman. Trayvon Martin was shot to death in a last-chance act by George Zimmerman, who was trying to keep Martin from taking his pistol, after enduring the felonious and unprovoked MMA-style assault by Martin.

Yep, that little Kel-Tec PF-9 pistol that George Zimmerman was carrying that fateful night was a conversation-starter all its own.

Indeed, the real national conversation has gone largely unreported by the media.  One form the "conversation" is taking are the 19.5 MILLION guns purchased in 2012 at gun dealers (and millions more through private hands). Some 87.5% of first-time buyers cite home defense, and 76.5% say self-defense was the reason they bought a gun.

The racial demagogues don't want to talk about Americans buying guns to protect themselves from violent crime, half of which is perpetrated by young black males.

That's right, half.

Black criminals, mostly young men, murdered over 8,500, raped over 40,000, and assaulted numberless Americans in 2011 alone. Though blacks make up only 13% of the US population (2010), blacks committed half of violent crimes in the country in 2011.

THIS is what we should be having a national conversation about.

Until and unless black families get their feral young boys under control, Jesse Jackson's, Al Sharpton's and John Lewis' rhetoric about black victimization rings pretty hollow.

What's ironic is that Dr. King's dream has come about: young black thugs are being judged by "the content of their character", and by their actions.  The racial demagogues would invert Dr. King's dream, and have black youth judged only by the color of their skin, and be excused of their crimes.
