Confirmed: Gang Membership Up 40% Under Obama – Violent Attacks on Whites Up 18%

Newt Gingrich correctly pointed out today that gang membership has grown by 40% since Barack Obama was elected.
There were approximately 1 million gang members in 2008 in the United States, an astonishing number.
And that includes Trayvon's uncle, a documented member of the Crips, and the man who mostly raised Prince Trayvon.
The FBI reported:
Approximately 1 million gang members belonging to more than 20,000 gangs were criminally active within all 50 states and the District of Columbia as of September 2008.
Today there are at least 1.4 million gang members in the United States, an increase by 40% since 2009.
The FBI reported:
Some 33,000 violent street gangs, motorcycle gangs, and prison gangs with about 1.4 million members are criminally active in the U.S. today. Many are sophisticated and well organized; all use violence to control neighborhoods and boost their illegal money-making activities, which include robbery, drug and gun trafficking, fraud, extortion, and prostitution rings. According to the 2011 National Gang Threat Assessment report, gangs are responsible for an average of 48 percent of violent crime in most jurisdictions, and up to 90 percent in others.
And in related news, also via Gateway Pundit:
Violent attacks on whites increased by 18% last year.
Daniel Greenfield at FrontPage reported:
Violent Attacks on Whites Increased 18%
Those would be troubling numbers with any group, or any other racial group anyway, but the Department of Justice’s statistics show that violent crimes against White non-Hispanics increased 18 percent from 2010 to 2011.

ZIMMERMAN NOT GUILTY! Media Asks, "Will You Keep the Gun?"

In which Ol' Backwoods explains the twisted thinking of the media, communists, and progressives.

From the Communist News Network (CNN):
Robert Zimmerman Jr. said his brother "is going to be looking around his shoulder for the rest of his life."
When asked if George Zimmerman will keep the gun he used to shoot Trayvon Martin, his brother said he has good reason to.
"I think he has more reason now than ever to think that people are trying to kill him because they express they're trying to kill him, all the time, every day, on my Twitter feed, on the Internet," Robert Zimmerman told CNN's Piers Morgan.
One man's life and freedom has been spared, and a violent thug was put down, and THIS is all they can think to ask?

I know it's alien to logical gun owners like us, but that's how they think.   "THE GUN" did it.  It influenced George Zimmerman to own and use it in self-defense.  That makes Zimmerman evil by association to the likes of the media, and double evil because Saint Trayyyyyyyvon (roast his soul) was black.  In their minds, Zimmerman should get rid of that yucky gun, because it is cursed now.

MEDIA: "THE GUN" is cursed!
Me: When is Kel-Tec bringing out the
GZ Special PF9?  And when can I order?
No doubt, some of you are saying to me right now, "Backwoods!  They were asking if he would keep that exact gun, because it might remind Zimmerman of the terrible day and all that happened because of it!  I would get rid of that gun, too, and I would get me another one!"

NO.  That is NOT what the media was asking.  Look at Robert Zimmerman's answer.  The media was asking, "will you now get rid of all guns?"  Because in their mind, "THE GUN" is evil.

Look, I know it's twisted, but that's how they think.

With the media, it's all about the object that is imbued with evil, not the intent and actions of the person.   "THE GUN" is now a talisman, filled with bad ju-ju that will cause anyone who touches it to become evil.  Criminals using guns to steal, rape, and murder, you see, are only that way because of the mighty thought-influence of "THE GUN".  They are only pawns, zombies marching to the power of "THE GUN".

Which brings us to self-defense, Zimmerman's use of the gun.  In the mind of Progressives and Communists the world over-- who largely make up the ranks of the media-- self-defense is not a permissible use of a weapon.  You see, the non-elite individual is no more special than the beetle eating my garden.  These moral morons are all about "THE COLLECTIVE".  (Insert Borg, USSR, and Nazi Germany examples here.) If the Almighty State (their view, not mine) permits the individual to live, then he will live, but only the state may defend him.   Only "THE POLICE" should have guns, you see, and because they are annointed by "THE STATE", they are not tainted by the power of "THE GUN".

Nonsense?  Of course.  But that's how they think.

The Framers would scoff at such unreal beliefs about how the world works.   We walk in their footsteps when we agree.

God bless you, George Zimmerman.  You did the right thing, and so did the jury.

Britain: "Men Without Chests" find "Machine Gun Ammo"!

Britain has been turned into a nation of wimps; in CS Lewis' words, "men without chests".

Ol' Backwoods found this story courtesy of Arms and the Law, but the story was originally in the UK Daily Mail Online, hilariously titled, "Couple discover 7,500 machine gun, shotgun and pistol bullets... while weeding their pond"!

An unmarried British couple (is there any other kind?) finds some rimfire .22 ammo in their pond, and FREAKS OUT!
Mr. Tipping's Horror! 'Machine Gun Bullets'!
Mr Tipping called alerted his partner Ms Mercer and headed to a friend’s house - incredibly, with the bullets in his pocket. ...
Ms Mercer added: 'I rang my dad because he used to be in the Navy, and he told us not to touch them because they could be dangerous.
OH NO Mr. Tipping!  In your pocket, you say?  Horror of horrors! Gun things in its pocketses!  Dad says don't touch them!  They might be DANGEROUS!

'It seems really stupid now but I didn't [realize] they could be dangerous, I just wanted to find out what they were.

.22 Long Rifle Rimfire
They were common .22 caliber rimfire cartridges, like the cleaner ones shown at right.  It appears that there were some other calibers, but most were .22 rimfire.

The chestless Mr. Tipping, knowing nothing of firearms like most Britons, actually BELIEVES his ignorant friend "that used to live on a farm" that they were 2.2mm 'bullets'!

I don't think I've ever heard of 0.87 caliber (2.2mm) 'bullets', Mr. Tipping.  Them'd be awful small.  Methinks you've got your calibers and millimeters mixed up, there, sweetcakes.

It might interest Mr. Tipping to know that I, and millions of other Americans, spent their childhood days with their pockets full of loose .22LR cartridges, out hunting or target shooting.  And NONE of us died from it.

By the way, Ol' Backwoods carries 25 rounds of ammunition of a much larger pistol caliber EVERY DAY, along with the pistol to fire them, and that's not even typical. MILLIONS of Americans carry more than that for their carry pistols, EVERY DAY.

As most of my readers already know, unless inside of a gun, cartridges are not dangerous per se, as the primer is not going to fire inside of the magazine.  Not even a rimfire cartridge will do that.  And if it did go off in your pocketses, all you'd get is a little burn on your leg, and a firecracker-like pop.  Without a container (like a barrel with a locked breech) to build up a pressure pulse and guide the resulting gas expansion, the bullet itself is not going to do anything more dramatic than pop off.

Plus, those were WET, from their pond.  The primers probably wouldn't fire anyway!

Sad thing is, in the big cities, many Americans are just as ignorant and lily-livered when it comes to firearms as these British "men without chests".  And that's exactly the kind of men that gun banners like Bloomberg would have Americans become: spineless, without conviction, and dependent on the government for their very lives.

Not this ol' boy.

Now, 5 States Have Permitless Carry of Arms; 50 Allow Some Kind of Carry

Congratulations, Arkansas!   Arkansas has become the 5th "Constitutional Carry" state, which means no permit is required for either open or concealed carry.  I missed that, back on July 2, but was apprised by reading back-issues of Shall Not Be Questioned.

And with the fall of Illinois' complete ban on carry (open or concealed) as the IL legislature yesterday overrode Gov. Quinn's veto, we now have some form of carry (open or concealed) in all 50 states.    37 of those states are SHALL-ISSUE concealed carry, meaning (in general) if a person is not a prohibited possessor according to the Gun Control Act of 1968, then a concealed carry license must be issued.

Despite the losses of states like Colorado and Connecticut this year, gun rights are still gaining ground.

Here's what the map looks like now:

Alabama is marked "shall issue", but that really doesn't take effect until August 1.  However, in most counties, Alabama is for all intents and purposes "shall issue".
